Our Story
On June 15, 1927, 100 colony children arrived at Northern Gäddvik. There were 54 boys and 46 girls from the mining areas, aged between seven and 14 years. The desired aim of LKAB was to provide more children with opportunity for a colony stay, offering them plenty of sunshine and fresh air, the scent of forests and greenery, bathing facilities, abundant, and nutritious food, and other health proper conditions. The location for the new children’s colony was described ideal, with the river nearby and views of the river and surroundings.
